How it can be used
Load the disc and let it run independently on a large screen for a lounge group session, or take control of the pace by pausing between questions during a structured quiz activity. No voiceover means the group leader reads each question aloud and can repeat or pause as needed. A 20-second countdown clock follows each question before the answer appears on screen.
Each disc includes the following:
- Video clips from classic movies, old-time songs, and world events
- Audio clips including mystery voices and TV theme music
- Image-based questions covering sport, geography, history, and general knowledge
- True or false and multiple choice question formats
- Occasional humorous slides included throughout
- Approximately 30 questions per disc, with a total runtime of around 30 minutes
- Lounge group session: Load the disc and let it play through on a large screen TV with no staff facilitation required beyond pressing play. Residents can participate individually, in pairs, or as a group.
- Facilitated quiz session: Pause the DVD after each question is displayed, read it aloud, allow discussion, then resume for the countdown and answer reveal.
- Team competition: Divide the group into two or three teams, assign a scorekeeper, and award points for correct answers before the on-screen answer appears.
- Reminiscence prompt: Use the video and audio clips as conversation starters — pause on a familiar song or movie clip and invite residents to share memories before continuing.
- One-to-one activity: Use with an individual resident who enjoys trivia, allowing them to call out answers at their own pace using the countdown clock as a guide.
