How to play
Tip the tiles onto a flat surface and start placing them edge to edge. Tiles can be rotated and combined in any order to build repeating or random patterns. Because there’s no fixed end point, a resident can stop, change direction, or start again at any time without losing progress.
- Side-by-side pattern matching: Sit with a resident and take turns placing tiles, mirroring each other’s pattern across the table for a gentle back-and-forth interaction.
- Colour or shape sorting warm-up: Before arranging tiles into patterns, ask the resident to sort them by motif type as a simple warm-up task.
- Copy-the-pattern challenge: A carer builds a short row or block pattern, then invites the resident to replicate it using their own tiles.
- Free exploration: Leave the tile set out during quiet time and let residents engage at their own pace without a set goal or prompt.
- Photograph and compare: Take a photo of a completed pattern, clear the tiles, and see if the resident can recreate it from the image.
