Musical Bingo is a bingo game for older residents that swaps numbers for sounds. Players listen to short musical tracks and match what they hear to instrument pictures on their bingo card. How to play
The caller plays a track from the CD while players look at their card and place a counter on the matching instrument picture. The first player to complete their card calls out “Bingo”. No reading is required, and the picture-based format keeps the game accessible across a range of cognitive abilities.
- Reminiscence warm-up: Before starting the game, pause on each musical track and invite players to share a memory the music brings to mind. This turns the game into a short reminiscence conversation as well as a bingo session.
- Small group competition: Split a larger group into two teams, each with their own set of cards, and see which team gets a full house first. Works well as a light competitive activity in day programs.
- One-to-one session: Use the flip book and a single card for a quieter one-to-one session with a resident who finds larger groups overstimulating.
- Music identification round: Play each track without revealing the instrument name and ask players to guess the instrument before placing their counter. Adds a short cognitive challenge to each round.
