This prayer service DVD supports spiritual care for residents in residential aged care
An easter activity manual for seniors covers seasonal faith observance, but spiritual care runs year-round. This DVD was produced in response to requests from care facilities seeking a way to provide spiritual comfort for residents who can no longer attend church regularly. Each service runs for approximately half a hour, with hymn words, prayers, and responses displayed on screen so residents can follow along without needing a printed order of service.
What’s included
The disc contains two separate versions of the Book of Common Prayer services used by the Anglican Church, with adaptations recognised by Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, and Presbyterian traditions.
How to use this resource
Screen the services during quiet group sessions, Sunday observance times, or Easter and other significant occasions in the church calendar. The on-screen text supports residents with limited mobility or low vision who may struggle to hold and read a printed prayer book.
- Sunday service session: Screen one of the two services as a regular weekly observance for residents who cannot attend church in person.
- Easter observance: Use the DVD as part of an Easter program to mark the occasion with familiar liturgy and hymns.
- Small group reflection: Play the service for a small group and allow time afterward for quiet reflection or informal conversation about faith and memory.
- One-to-one spiritual support: Screen the DVD with an individual resident who has expressed a wish for spiritual comfort but has limited mobility or energy for group sessions.
